Ziggy Evitts

I have been writing for 4 years now. Right now my focus is on contemporary set literary fiction, with my project 'Pigs', which I have been rewriting as part of my course with the NAW this year. You can read more about this in the Novel section. 

My interests in design and music, I plan to involve with the writing as time goes on. I like the idea of expanding the concept of what a novel is and can be, with interactive and meta-textual elements to engage readers on whole new levels of involvement. The words must come first though, so this is why there isn't much crossover between the writing and music pages here just yet. As time goes on, there will be and I hope it's something that readers will enjoy and respond to.

I am currently researching and preparing the next novel, which is set over a seven day period in the city of Toronto. In it I hope to expand more on the meta-fiction stuff I have been working on with Pigs this year.

Script writing for theater and film is something I have yet to fully commit to. I find the mediums interesting, but at the moment my focus is on literature. 

There are two other full length novels that I wrote prior to the current one, I consider those to be a sort of apprenticeship and so they aren't going to be featured here anytime soon.  

I am inspired by the usual big names in literature like Nabokov and Joyce as well as a few current writers like Martin Amis and William Gibson. I read more science and history than I do novels though.

I don't have a lot of interest in short fiction at the moment, I seem to be having more ideas for novels or series of novels than anything. I haven't written a new one in over a year and the featured story on this site 'Mirny' was from 2009. From time to time I will change the story on the Short Fiction page, same with the Children's page.

One area I want to get into is non-fiction writing, I have not done much, so am using blogs as a testing ground for it.
